ABC Unit

We amidst an amazing adventure in our alphabet unit!  The purpose of this unit is to...
1. Review all the consonants and vowels.
2. Establish Guided Comprehension Center routines.
3. Establish word sort routines.
4. Learn what makes a complete sentence.
5. Establish standards for illustrations in our work.
6. Read and discuss books which explore the alphabet.
7. Learn how to alphabetize words.
8. Develop blending strategies for unknown words.
9. Review kindergarten sight words.


Students have enjoyed demonstrating their knowledge of the basic sounds and letters through art projects inspired by Harold's ABC and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. They have also enjoyed creating their own ABC book in which they create silly sentences inspired by Dr. Seuss and Superhero ABC.
