Have you heard of Clara, the peregrine falcon, who lays her eggs on top of San Jose's city hall each year? Well, thanks to a webcam set up by the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group, we are able to observe some of the activity of the nest from our classroom! This came at the perfect time, as we have been learning about different types of animals and how some have better adapted to city life than others. We set up observation journals and will have a few opportunities to observe Clara and her hatchlings on the classroom computer. Some students have expressed an interest in continuing their observations at home. Here is the link to the live webcam of the peregrine falcon nest:

It is not required for students to observe the nest at home. However, it may be a fun activity to do together.
If you find your student can't get enough of the raptors, they can also check out the following webcams of other California raptors. These are of good quality, and are super fun to watch!
